Timberland Children’s Boots Recalled For Lead Paint Violation

Legal news for New York product liability attorneys –Consumer Product Safety Commission and Timberland recall children’s boots due to excessive lead paint insoles.

New York, NY (NewYorkinjuryNews.com) — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Timberland Company of Stratham, N.H., announced a voluntary recall of Classic Scuffproof Boots due to the insoles containing too much lead paint December 16, 2009. All Consumers who purchased these defective products should discontinue use immediately unless otherwise advised.

The defective product named “Classic Scuffproof Boots” were imported through The Timberland Company and 21,000 units have been sold at shoe stores and other specialty stores across the United States. The consumer hazard is that that logo stamped on the children’s boot on the inside contains lead that exceeds federal lead paint standards. Thus far, there have been no injuries reported.

The company’s voluntary recall entails children’s Timberland with the model numbers of 34772, 34872, and 34972, which can be found on the white tag on the inside of the boots. The Thailand-manufactured boots were priced at $50 to $70 and were sold across the country at participating recall stores from June 2009 through October 2009.
