In case you do make such contact, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and then wash the affected area properly. Do not apply more than once a day, or huge amounts of the cream, for an over-application will lead to over-dryness and irritation of the skin. The commonly-reported side effects of Renova-Retin A are not severe and include: mild peeling or redness of the skin, burning or stinging sensation in the skin, itching, or dry skin. If these symptoms persist or worsen; or if your face looks puffy or crusted; or if this cream causes a severe darkening or lightening of the affected areas, then you should contact your doctor immediately. This cream can be harmful if swallowed, and can cause an allergic reaction including excessive peeling or redness of the skin.

The cream/gel is flammable, so it should be stored at ordinary room temperature away from heat, light or dampness [but not in the freezer], and kept away from children and pets. Renova 0.02% cream is not recommended for youngsters below 18, adults above 71, for those with sun-damaged skin, and should not be used for more than 1 year.
