Ever get that feeling you’ve eaten way too much and you’re really tired? That’s because you’ve consumed too much high-calorie food and your body redirects energy to help break it down. This can be combated by eating smaller portions. Only prepare half as much food as you would normally eat, consume your meal and wait 30 minutes. You’ll find that you’re not hungry after this time and forget about needing more food. If you’re still hungry after have a piece of fruit. Remember, if you’re body sees an abundance of something (fat), it stores it for later!

Lean meats and fish are excellent in your diet when looking to lose weight. Protein is more satisfying than fats and carbohydrates and is the secret to dieting and losing weight. Protein takes longer to break down in the stomach making you feel full for longer and also fuels your muscles (the best fat burners you’ll ever need!). So remember, high protein and low fat meats! Water is what keeps our bodies burning fuel and the majority of us aren’t getting enough of it. Some people often mistaken thirst with hunger. Instead of reaching for the food, grab a large glass of water and drink that instead. It helps every single part of your body function better, makes you more awake and also keeps your skin healthy and young. You should be consuming at least 6-8 glasses of water per day. Ensure you have water with every meal and it becomes child’s play. Spread your water consumption to ensure you get the most out of it. Try it for a week, I guarantee you’ll notice an improvement!

Ever noticed that if you’re hungry and you’ve nothing around you that’s easy to eat then you snack on high calorie food? Well now you can combat the problem by simply having lots of fruit around you. It calms your appetite for a few hours and restores your blood sugar levels so you don’t get the “mad eating spree” feeling!

If you eat late or just before bed you’re simply going to store all the energy consumed in your meal and this will simply end up as fat in your body. We’ve all done it, gone shopping while we are hungry and purchased lots of high calorie food we crave at the time only to have our meal and regret it. Only go shopping after a sensible meal to avoid such disasters. You’ll be far more practical, save money and feel great at the checkout knowing you’re making the healthy choice.

We all like to be satisfied at the end of the meal but while we are dieting it’s like we’ve not eaten enough. Get out of this way of thinking by doubling up your vegetables portions. It’s a proven method to increase your essential vitamins and minerals intake and gives you that satisfying feeling once you’ve finished.

Diet & Weight Loss Tips No. 8: Don’t go for the easy option

By the easy option I mean take the stairs if you can, don’t drive to the shop around the corner, go for a walk etc. These tiny little life style changes save you money and belt sizes. Remember, challenge yourself to do more! It burns calories, helps you sleep and makes you feel fantastic knowing you’ve made the right choice.
